Bondage personals in London
London holds enough rope for several distinct circles, and they disagree with each other about most things, so the first useful question about somebody new is which one they came up through. Word moves quickly inside a circle and barely at all between them. The constraint everybody shares is where. Flats are small, there is rarely anywhere at home to tie, and a great many couples here have only ever done it in a hired room with other people in it, which shapes a relationship more than anyone expects.
Posts come from north of the river, the south east, the east, the west and the commuter belt. People lead with their side of the city because a rope evening has to survive the journey home.
Riggers in London
Looking for somebody to tie, and saying what they want the rest of the week to look like.
-
This takes two evenings a week, for years, and most people leave
Wants: somebody who reads that as a description rather than a warning
The unromantic thing goes at the top. To be any good at this, and to stay any good at it, I need to be doing it twice most weeks with the same person over years. That is not devotion and it is not intensity. It is maintenance, and it is the reason two of my three partnerships ended.
-
An hour out, and I will not pretend the drive is nothing
Wants: somebody who will meet a fortnightly rhythm honestly rather than promise a weekly one
An hour and ten each way, sometimes considerably more, and I am always the one driving it because I am the one with a car. I have begun three things with people in the middle of the city and watched all three quietly die of the journey, which I now think was largely my own fault for insisting each time that it was no trouble.
Rope bottoms in London
Looking for somebody to be tied by, with the terms set out before anybody starts.
-
The difference between a practice partner and a partner, plainly
Wants: a relationship with rope in it, not a slot in somebody's training week
I have been somebody's Wednesday for five years. Four different people, all decent, all clear from the start that this was practice and not a relationship, and I agreed every time because I wanted the rope and told myself the rest would arrive later. It never arrived. Not once, with any of them.
-
Every time I have been tied, other people were in the room
Wants: one person, over a long stretch, rather than a rota of evenings
In four years I have never been tied anywhere that was not booked by the hour with six other people at the far end of it. That is not a complaint about anybody. It is simply the only version of this I have ever had, and I have started to wonder what the other one is like.
-
I lived with a rigger once and I am wary of doing it again
Wants: somebody whose week has other things in it besides this
There was rope in every room. On the back of the bathroom door, in the hall cupboard, drying over the radiator all February, a bag by the front door permanently packed for an evening somewhere. None of that is a complaint about mess. It is that by the second year I could not tell where our relationship ended and his hobby started, and by the third neither could he.
-
One generous month a year and eleven mean ones
Wants: somebody whose own year has a shape, or who can accept a thin autumn
My year has one good month in it and eleven difficult ones. From September I am working most evenings until ten and I am no use to anybody by Saturday. Every partnership I have had in this was formed in a summer and buried in a November, and I have finally accepted that the pattern belongs to me rather than to bad luck.
Switches in London
Both ends of the rope, and a partner who can handle the swap without making it a subject.
-
I moved here from a town where none of this existed at all
Wants: company at things first, and a partner later, in that order
Where I grew up the nearest anything was two hours away and I had no car, so for three years all of this happened on a laptop in my bedroom with people I have never met and never will. Four months ago I moved here for a job, walked into a room with actual people in it, and had to sit down for a bit.
Couples in London
Two people posting together, whether they both tie or only one of them does.
-
We both tie, neither of us bottoms, and that is the whole problem
Wants: somebody who would want a place in our lives rather than a slot in our week
We are both riggers. We got together anyway, which several people warned us about, and eight years on the warning has turned out to be entirely about logistics and not at all about whether we suit each other.
The rest of the scene in London
A board is one way into a local scene and the narrowest one. Most people who tie in London met somebody in a room, not on a page like this.
- What a rope workshop evening is actually like
- Dating inside an online rope community
- The rules nobody posts on the door
- What dating inside a small scene costs you
