Bondage personals in Toronto
For five months of the year, seeing a rope partner in Toronto means being indoors somewhere, and the scene organises itself around that with a seriousness the summer never asks for. The condo is the other thing everybody names: shared walls, a concierge who logs guests, a lift with a camera in it, all of which turn hosting into a decision rather than a default. The scene is genuinely mixed and franker about background, language and family than most.
Posts come from downtown, the west end, the east end, North York and the 905. People lead with their side of the city because a rope evening has to survive the journey home.
Rope bottoms in Toronto
Looking for somebody to be tied by, with the terms set out before anybody starts.

My limits changed with my body, and I had to tell somebody who remembered
Wants: somebody meeting the body in front of him rather than one in a story
My back went in the spring of the year before last and it did not entirely come back. There is a list of things I used to do without thinking that I have taken off my own list, permanently, and I made that decision on my own before anybody had to ask me about it. That part was straightforward. The hard part was saying it to a man who had known me for nine years.
-
My Tuesday is not your Tuesday and two things have ended over it
Wants: somebody whose week bends, or who is free while the city is at work
The rota comes out five weeks ahead and I have no say in it. Some months I have four free evenings, some months I have one, and twice a year I get a run of days off in the middle of the week when everybody I know is at a desk. That single document has ended more of this for me than anything about rope ever has.
-
Four men this spring have described me as a chance to practise
Wants: a partner, rather than somebody to develop a skill on
Four men this spring have written to me, in perfectly courteous terms, about what they were hoping to work on. Not what they wanted from a relationship. What they wanted to get better at. One of them itemised it. I understand that people have to learn and I have been generous about that in the past, and I am finished.
Switches in Toronto
Both ends of the rope, and a partner who can handle the swap without making it a subject.

My family are twenty minutes away, close, warm, and permanently uninformed
Wants: somebody who does not need to be introduced to anybody
Sunday dinner is at my mother's, every week, with my two brothers, their partners and whoever else has turned up. I go. I like going. Nobody at that table knows anything about this and I have decided, with a clear head and no particular anguish, that nobody ever will. It is not a wound and I would rather it were not treated as one.
-
My hands changed, so I rebuilt what I do around what still works
Wants: a partner interested in what is there rather than what is not
My hands are not what they were at thirty and they are not going back. That has been true for a couple of years. What I do has changed considerably as a result: there are things I have taken off my own list and will not be putting back on it, there are evenings that go differently than they used to, and there is a good deal more talking in between.
Couples in Toronto
Two people posting together, whether they both tie or only one of them does.

She ties, I do not, and I am nobody's unsolved problem
Wants: people who can meet a couple without diagnosing one half of it
She ties. I read a book in the next room, or I make dinner, or I go out and see a friend and come back later. I have no interest in any of it and never have had, and after eleven years I have run out of ways to say so without somebody deciding I am either being noble about it or have not been properly asked.

Fourteen years for her, one weekend for me, and eighteen bad months
Wants: a couple who started badly lopsided and got through it
Fourteen years against one weekend is what we started with. She had been doing this since her twenties. I had been to one thing, with a friend, having thought about it for a decade and acted on none of it. We got together anyway and the first eighteen months were considerably harder than either of us admitted at the time.
-
We settled how public any of this would be in year one, on purpose
Wants: one or two couples who have made their own decision about the same thing
We had the conversation about visibility in our first year, at a kitchen table, with an actual list, which sounds joyless and has turned out to be the most useful hour we ever spent. Who knows. What they know. What happens if somebody's colleague turns up at the same thing. Who we would tell if we had to. It is written down and we have amended it twice.
The rest of the scene in Toronto
A board is one way into a local scene and the narrowest one. Most people who tie in Toronto met somebody in a room, not on a page like this.
