Every time we walk into a room, somebody talks to me about my practice and asks her how long she has been getting tied for. Every time. It has stopped being annoying and become a small private game, and we have a running count for the year which I will not disclose because it is depressing.
We are thirty four and thirty six, Brooklyn, together seven years. She ties. I do not and never have and have no wish to. Neither of us regards this as remarkable and we appear to be alone in that.
The reason it is worth a post is that it shapes what we are looking for. We would like to know people who do not need it explained, ideally because their own arrangement is also not the default one. Some of the best evenings we have had have been with couples who spend their whole social life correcting the same assumption.
We are not looking for anything beyond friendship. We are quite self contained and neither of us wants a third person in the middle of it.
Not looking for anyone who will address the practical questions to me. Not looking for a couple who want to swap anything. And not looking for anybody who thinks this arrangement needs a word attached to it, since we have never used one.
