Our apartment is one room and a kitchen you cannot turn round in. That fact has done more to shape our practice than any decision either of us has made. We cannot leave anything out. We cannot make noise after nine. Everything has to be put away before we go to sleep because there is nowhere for it to be.
What that has produced, oddly, is a very tidy and quite specific practice. We do a small number of things and we do them extremely well and we are not remotely bothered about the rest, because the rest would not fit.
We are twenty nine and thirty one, Queens, together five years. Both of us tie and both of us get tied, in whatever combination the week suggests.
What we would like is friends who understand this without it being a subject. We have twice ended up in friendships with people who kept generously offering their place, which was kind and which slowly made us feel like a charity case. We are not looking for somewhere to go. We are looking for people to know.
Not looking for a third, ever, in any configuration. Not looking to be invited anywhere out of pity. And not looking for anybody who will suggest we move, since we have looked at the numbers and we are staying exactly where we are.
