I work six days. It is not temporary and it is not a sacrifice towards something better, it is simply the shape of the business I am in and it will be for years. So the whole of my life outside work happens on a Sunday, and that includes this.
Thirty one, Queens, four years in, both ends of it. The relationship I had for a year and a half ended because one day a week was not enough for her, which was completely fair and which she said kindly and early, and I still think about how much better that was than the alternative of finding out slowly.
So I am saying it first. One day. It is a good day: I am rested, I have nothing else on it, and I am entirely present. It is also the only one, and the person who does well with me is somebody whose own week is packed and who wants one substantial thing rather than several small ones.
I would like it to be regular and long. The same day, most weeks, for years. Given how little time there is, I would rather build depth with one person than spread it around.
Not looking for anything on a weeknight, at any point, for any reason. Not looking for somebody who will suggest I ask for a different rota. And not looking for a partner who needs a lot of contact between times, since I am at work and no use to anybody.
