We have been together twenty nine years and we started this six years ago, in our late fifties, after one of us read something and mentioned it over dinner in the sort of voice people use when they are not sure how it will land. It landed. Six years later it is the most interesting thing that has happened to us in a decade.
We are sixty three and sixty five, out in the western districts, and we have never been to anything. That is partly shyness and largely the assumption that we would be the oldest people there by a wide margin and that everyone would be extremely nice about it.
What we would like is somebody to ask questions of. Not lessons. We have got quite far on our own and we are not looking to be improved. It is more that after six years there are things we do not know we do not know, and no way at all to find out.
We would happily meet one couple or one person, for coffee, in daylight, with nothing whatsoever expected.
Not looking for anybody to join us in anything, which we would like to state clearly since we gather it is the usual assumption. Not looking to be anybody's project. And not looking for a large group, at least not yet, because we would find it hard going.
