I have a condition that decides how much I have in a day, and the amount is not large and does not negotiate. What that means here is that I can do about two hours, well, and then I am finished, and there is no version where I push through and it goes fine.
Forty one, Prenzlauer Berg, thirteen years in. The first two years after the diagnosis I kept trying to run the practice I had before, and every time I overreached I lost the following three days, and eventually I stopped being stupid about it.
What I have now is genuinely better in some ways. Two hours with no slack in them, planned properly, with everything decided in advance so that nothing is spent on faffing. I am told the concentration is noticeable.
What I need from a partner is the ability to accept a short evening as a complete thing rather than as a reduced one, and to hear me say I am done without reading disappointment into it.
Not looking for anybody who wants a long open ended evening, which I cannot do. Not looking for somebody who will ask whether I have tried various things, since I have tried all of them. And not looking to have my energy managed for me, which I do adequately and which is not somebody else's job.
