Rope so far
Nine years in my thirties, eleven away, four months back.

Queens, New York

I left for a job in another state, stayed eleven years, and came back in the spring to find that I know nobody. Not fewer people. Nobody. Everyone I used to see has moved, stopped, had children, or is presumably still here somewhere in a part of this that no longer overlaps with the part I can find.

Fifty two, Queens, nine years of experience that stopped in a different decade. The vocabulary has changed. The way people talk about consent has changed, mostly for the better, and I have had to sit and listen a good deal rather than assume I already knew.

What I would like is somebody who is patient with the specific combination I represent, which is a person with genuine experience and completely obsolete habits. I do not need teaching in any general sense. I need correcting occasionally, without being made to feel like a relic when it happens.

I am after one person and something long. At my age and with my history I am not interested in accumulating evenings. I would like a standing arrangement with somebody I actually like, ideally near enough that seeing each other is not a project.

Not looking for anyone who wants to hear how things were done in my day, because I find that conversation embarrassing. Not looking for someone to introduce me to a large group, at least not yet. And not looking for anything that starts with a demonstration of what I can still do.

Before you answer this one

You would be the one tying. These three are about what the person in the rope actually needs.
