Everything I know about this I learned with my wife, over seventeen years, and I am now on a board explaining myself to strangers, which is not a sentence I expected to be writing at this age. The marriage ended for reasons that were nothing to do with rope. It ended over money and a decade of small silences, and the rope was one of the last parts still working when the rest had stopped.
Forty nine, north of the river, in the flat we bought together and which I now rattle around in. There is a room in it that used to be for this and currently holds a bicycle.
What I am wary of is my own inexperience at the beginning of things. Seventeen years with one person makes you very good at the middle and completely useless at the start. I have no idea how anybody does the first three months. I am told it now involves a great deal of messaging, and I am told I am bad at that, and both of those are probably fair.
So I would like to go slowly and meet properly. What I am after in the end is another long one. I am aware that is not a fashionable thing to say in a first post.
Not looking for anybody in a hurry. Not looking for someone who wants to hear about the divorce beyond the two lines above. And not looking for a partner who is at the very beginning of this, because I do not think I would be good at that and it is better to say so.
