We are not looking for a third. We are not looking for another couple to swap anything with. We are looking for people to have dinner with who will not need the first hour explained to them, and we have learned that if we do not say that immediately then the first four replies are all the same reply.
Both of us are in our late thirties, north of the river, together five years and doing this for seven each, since we both came to the relationship with a history. What we do not have is anybody to talk to about it. Our friends are lovely and would be fine about it in the abstract, and neither of us wants to find out how fine.
That absence turns out to matter more than we expected. There is nobody to ask when something has been odd. There is nobody to say that a difficult stretch is normal. We work it out between ourselves every time, and after five years of that we have concluded we are probably wrong about several things and would not know.
So: friends. People who tie or get tied or both, who want to know two more people, with nothing at all on the table beyond that. If it went somewhere in five years, that would be a conversation we had then and not the reason for the introduction.
Not looking for anyone who reads the above as an opening position. Not looking to join anything organised. And not looking for people who would want photographs, of anything, ever.
