I stopped work two years ago and discovered that time is worth nothing unless somebody else has some. My days are entirely open. Everybody I have met since is at a desk until seven and then wants a quiet evening, which I completely understand and which leaves us about ninety minutes a week.
Fifty seven, out west, twenty four years of rope, two long partnerships and about three years on my own. What I would like is somebody whose hours are also strange. Retired, working part time, on shifts, self employed, studying, anything. An afternoon is a completely different thing from an evening and I had forgotten that until I had them again.
I should say I am not looking to fill a day. I read, I swim badly, I have a workshop full of half finished furniture. This is a specific absence rather than a general one, and I would be poor company for anybody who wanted me to be their whole schedule.
What I want is regular, unhurried and long. Twice a week if that suits, in daylight, with a lot of ordinary company around it.
Not looking for anybody much younger, which I have been offered and which was not a comfortable fit. Not looking for anything organised or public. And not looking for somebody who needs me to be busy, since being unbusy is what I worked for.
