We ended it in March and we are still in the same flat, because neither of us can find anywhere and the lease has fourteen months to run. We are civil, we have divided the week, and it is exactly as strange as it sounds. Anybody who has tried to move here in the last few years will know this is not an unusual arrangement.
Twenty nine, Friedrichshain, six years in. I am posting because I have decided that putting my life on hold until a lease expires is a bad plan, and also because I am aware that I am currently a complicated person to start something with.
What that means practically: I cannot host, at all, for over a year. I am not available at short notice because the flat has a rota. And there is somebody in my kitchen who used to be my partner, which some people will find impossible and which I would completely understand.
What I want is something slow. Talking first, at length. I am not in a position to move quickly and I would rather find somebody who is fine with a strange year than rush into anything to escape a flat.
Not looking for anybody who wants to rescue me from any of this. Not looking for somebody who needs to know the details of how it ended. And not looking to move in with anyone, at any point in the next two years, however bad it gets.
