The flat is two rooms, one of which is the bedroom and the other of which contains everything else including a cat who regards all of this as an outrage staged for her benefit. She sits on things. She has opinions and expresses them. We gave up on the idea of an undisturbed evening about a year ago and the evenings have honestly improved since.
Twenty seven and twenty nine, the city centre, together three years and doing this for two. We are cheerful about the constraints because being gloomy about them would not produce a second bedroom. Everything happens in a small space with a cat in it, at hours dictated by a neighbour who gets up alarmingly early, and it works perfectly well.
The reason we are writing is that we would like to know some people. That is genuinely the whole of it. Everybody we know socially is from work, we appear to be the only ones who do any of this, and we have reached the point where we would quite like one conversation about it with somebody who is not each other.
What we can offer is dinner in a very small kitchen and two people who are easy company. What we cannot offer is space, quiet, or expertise of any kind, since we have been doing this for two years and are still surprised by something most months.
Friends is the entire request. Ideally somebody who also lives in a shoebox, so that nobody has to be tactful about the size of anybody's kitchen.
