Three years of this and nobody has ever corrected either of us

Nobody has ever corrected us. Three years of learning this side by side with no one else in the room, and the result is that we are extremely comfortable with each other and have no idea whatsoever whether what we do resembles what anybody else does.

We are thirty and thirty two, together five years, doing this for three, the Stockport side. The good part is real and we would recommend it to anybody: there is no expert in our house. Neither of us defers. When we disagree about how an evening went we actually argue about it as equals, and both of us have got better because of that.

The part we are much less sure about is everything outside the house. We have been to two things ever. Both times we stood together near a wall and left early, and both times we came home and agreed we ought to go again, and then did not for a year.

So the ask is small. One or two people, or another couple, that we come to know well enough to be honest with. We would like somebody able to tell us when something we do looks strange from outside. We would like to ask a question without it becoming an occasion.

Nobody is being invited to join us and we are not asking for instruction. Company, mostly, and the sort of friendship where the subject can come up in the middle of an ordinary conversation and then be dropped again.
