Three flatmates, one bathroom, and somebody in the kitchen at every hour a human being has ever been awake. My place is not available. Not on a Tuesday, not in August, not ever, and it is a far bigger practical obstacle than anybody on this board seems willing to say.
Twenty seven, three years in, living in the south of the city with three other adults. Everything I have done has happened somewhere that was not mine, which means on somebody else's terms and in somebody else's hours, and the person deciding when an evening finishes has never once been me.
Nobody has to fix my housing for me. What I want is somebody who treats it as a constraint we are both inside, rather than quietly concluding that I cannot be very serious about any of this. Two people have drifted off at exactly that point, and in both cases the last message was friendly and about something else entirely.
What I want is a partnership with rope in it. One person, over years, the kind of thing where eventually there is a door somewhere that shuts. That is a long way off and I know it. I am twenty seven and I have time, and I would much rather begin something that grows into that than take an evening at a time from whoever happens to have a spare room.
If you have your own place, lovely, and please do not let that become the whole of what we are. If you do not either, then we have a puzzle, and I am good at puzzles.
