I will not do this with somebody I do not know well, in either direction, and by well I mean months rather than evenings. That is not a safety speech and I am not offering it as advice to anybody. It is a rule about me: I am no good at it with a stranger, I have tried twice, and both times I spent the whole evening managing my own nerves instead of paying attention.
Thirty one, Friedrichshain, seven years in. What this means is that I am a slow and probably frustrating person to meet on a board like this. People here move quickly and it is one of the nicer things about the city, and it does not suit me at all.
What I would like is to know somebody first. Dinner, walks, the whole unremarkable business of finding out who a person is when nothing is at stake. Then, at some point, this.
I go both ways and the direction has always depended on the person rather than on my mood, which is one of the reasons I need to know them.
Not looking for anybody who wants to arrange an evening in the first fortnight. Not looking for somebody who will read the pace as a lack of interest, since it is the opposite. And not looking for a practice arrangement of any kind, which is the exact inverse of everything above.
