Restraints that tighten themselves

Image I used to rely on this. It’s a little untidy, but it does the job well. The method is simple: stretch a bungee cord around a piece of wood and hook both ends onto the wood’s tips. Next, wrap paper towels around that bungee setup and mist them until they’re damp. Then, freeze the entire assembly. When you need to use it, pull out the wooden core and secure the exposed end where desired. Typically, I only have 15 or 20 minutes before the ice melts enough for the cord to snap free and tighten up. Make sure there is a safety device in place because the tension can get very strong as the ice gives way. The paper towels and ice shards sometimes fly outward when the cord tightens.
