Is it really worth using a chastity device?

My partner asked what I thought about chastity devices—not for me, but regarding him. I looked around online and landed on this site. Here are my impressions: (1) Is masturbation actually an issue? And is a chastity device the true solution instead of just abstinence? (2) Do these devices work well? I think full belts do, but what about cages? (3) They seem to come in two varieties. To me, those with solid rings look useless since anything that can be inserted can also be pulled out. (4) Does this imply that people using this type value the symbolism over security? They could escape if they wanted to, but opt not to. (5) The hinged versions seem more secure, yet some provide rings up to two inches wide. Are there really men with such large dimensions? (I measured my boyfriend and he is 1.6 inches.) (6) Do those who say they’ve been locked for weeks or months tell the truth, or are they showing off?
