Spreader Bar Options: PVC vs. Metal

It really depends on your preference: do you want something light, heavy-duty, or incredibly solid with just a bit of give? I personally enjoy both options. My setup includes two steel spreader bars and two made from PVC plastic. The concept is straightforward. First, determine the distance between your legs; mine stretches nearly 6 feet from ankle to ankle. As mentioned before, I prefer limited mobility. So, measure that desired leg span from ankle to ankle, then add 2½ inches to each end (totaling 5 extra inches). For example, if you want a 4-foot separation, the rod should be 4’5” long. Drill holes in both ends large enough for eyelet screws or bolts—I found these at Ace Hardware for $0.75 apiece—and you’ll need two for the feet and one centrally located. After drilling that middle hole, install the hardware. You can secure hooks using zip ties or any method you prefer; I opted for a basic dog leash clamp because it allows easy disconnection when finished. Just remember to free your hands from the center of the bar before you loosen up:) Good luck with whichever method you choose.
