The Three Rivet Restraint

It’s quite straightforward:

• Trim a strap to the width of your chosen buckle, ensuring it is long enough to wrap around an ankle, wrist, hip, wiener dog, or whatever else you need to secure.
• Attach the buckle at one end using a standard oval hole and rivet setup.
• Take a broader but shorter strip of leather. Position a D-ring on the narrow strap and fasten it with two additional rivets, placing them on either side of the D-ring along that short leather piece so the buckle sits atop the wider strap. Hand-stitching gives the leather a nicer appearance, though this method is quick and easy too. 3 rivets 1.jpg 3 rivets 2.jpg EDIT: I crafted these restraints a few years back. Back then, I didn’t have access to commercial D-rings, so I brazed my own from thick copper wire. They work well enough but tend to stain the leather. Nowadays, I usually go for brass D-rings from suppliers. They are about 1€ apiece and look much better! (Regardless of your choice, don’t overlook style, aesthetics, and function.) Then again, there is a certain charm in paraphernalia that show their age.
