Professional Makeover

I’ve been dabbling in makeup for a little while now. I’ve got the fundamentals sorted and I’m enjoying the results—it’s quite enjoyable. What I need are some suggestions on locating a salon or cosmetologist who can provide a full makeover, so I can see how lovely I might look with professional help. Do salons usually offer this service, or is it more of a gamble? I don’t know of any dressing services or similar businesses around here. I’ve considered the idea of visiting Macys or MAC to get done there, but I hesitate—it feels too public for me. A salon would be somewhat less exposed and perhaps, if chosen well, might have supportive people around. Of course, it would be great if someone knew my hometown, offering some local expertise—are any “local” lurkers out there??? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
