Is bondage and self-bondage considered sexual in nature?

I’ve been going to my local munch for some time, and the feeling I get from many attendees is that bondage in all its forms counts as a sexual act. Admittedly, I haven’t gone up to people at the munch to ask what their actual opinions are (another thread on this forum recently got me thinking about it).

Personally, yes, I do find both bondage and self-bondage arousing, but for me, they aren’t strictly sexual. I’d happily be tied by someone else just because we can, and I love the idea of being bound in aesthetically pleasing ways. I’ve even spent full evenings with rope harnesses on, staying tied up while doing my usual routine, purely for the joy of it.

To me, bondage is enjoyable rather than sexual, so I was curious what the general consensus here is. Sexual or Non-sexual?
