my friday evening

Friday was absolute hell. It was hot out, we had a ton of nonsense to deal with at work, and I’d have to stand in formation for about an hour… then my sgt came up and asked me to drive the new guy to a city roughly an hour away so he could pick up a rental car. My first thought: yes, things just got better! So we head out toward that city, but get bogged down in traffic for nearly an hour, followed by another 45 minutes of driving before finally arriving.

We secure the rental and start heading back, only to find ourselves stuck in even heavier traffic—like four hours worth. Grrr is all I could think about.

After several more hours pass, I’m finally back in my city. I snag some firewood from the roadside and head to the store for a 12-pack of Coors.

Back at the barracks, I quickly change into shorts and a tee, get the fire started, and after about ten beers plus a few shots (can’t remember which ones exactly), I’m ready for bed. I wake up, put out the fire, go upstairs to my room, strip down, and lie in bed. The next thing I know, the door is closed… I find myself standing in the hallway… completely naked… without my card key… Confused, I spend about 20 minutes trying to get back into my room. Then the guy from the apartment next door pokes his head out and goes… why are you naked… and I reply I don’t know, I think I need to use the bathroom. He says… yeah but why are you standing there in the hall completely bare… All I can do is stand there going uhhh… yeah… Next thing I know he shuts his door again, and I realize fuck, I should have had him call Key Control so I’m stuck out there for another five minutes until he returns with a pair of shorts. He says don’t worry about giving them back lol One phone call to the CQ desk later—after an hour and a half—and they let me back into my room to use the bathroom before collapsing onto my bed… That’s it. LMFAO
