how do you unbind yourself?

I am no stranger to bondage, but I would say I am a newbie regarding one thing: I have always cheated. Often I bound my legs with rope or duck tape, yet my hands were different. I used toy hand cuffs or tied my hands together so that the ropes felt tight while allowing my hands to slip out easily. Now I want to take it up a notch and truly secure my hands. In that case, how do you set yourself free?
