This seems like a fresh idea, and it’s particularly useful for anyone who keeps their knives or scissors within reach when the ice thaws—a potentially hazardous situation.
All you need is a pair of scissors and a padlock that fits properly.
Since these images are likely larger than 600x600 pixels, I’m sharing links rather than embedding them directly. The concept is simple: if the padlock secures onto the handles, it prevents you from using the scissors (with my specific pair this works flawlessly) until you retrieve the key. This allows you to keep your scissors right beside you, eliminating the risk of them falling into your EYE while you’re blindfolded.
It also serves as an effective safety release mechanism: place the key inside a bucket filled with something unpleasant that you wouldn’t want spilling onto your carpet or on yourself above. Attach a rope connecting both the bucket and the key, so if you need to escape quickly, just pull the cord.
Of course, this won’t help much if you’re using steel bondage gear, but for those of us who rely primarily on ropes (like I do), it’s ideal.
And yes, my bedroom carpet happens to be grey. How dull.
