Hello everyone. I’ve been brainstorming some concepts for release methods, particularly those that rely on electronics.

  1. Imagine a steady stream of water—fresh or otherwise—dripping from above into a flask containing granular salt. Two wires sit just millimeters above the salt bed inside. As the dripping water dissolves the salt, it eventually bridges both wires, completing the electrical circuit through the saline solution.

1B) This setup could also work in reverse with electromagnetic stocks. Picture a beaker of saltwater acting as part of the vital connection point. Initially, evaporating water keeps the link intact. Once enough moisture is lost—either because levels drop too low or conductivity fails—the circuit breaks and the stocks unlock.

  1. A cork floats inside a narrow tube (like a graduated cylinder), wide enough to stay upright but tight enough not to jam. A strip of conductive metal rests on top, held down by contacts but not fixed in place for safety. As water drains or evaporates from the tube, the rising level eventually breaks contact with the metal strip, triggering release.

  2. Using AAA batteries, a key is magnetically attached to an electromagnet via standard means. A string prevents the keys from getting lost. The system draws steady current at voltages dependent on the inductive wire length in that specific electromagnet. By knowing the voltage and amperage draw, you can calculate how long single or multiple batteries will hold a key suspended. Adding resistor networks allows finer control over how long the magnet stays energized.

Mechanical Concepts:

  1. A device made of several compartments closed by latches could be built. The design calls for hair-trigger sensitivity. These soda-can-sized boxes would sit on a frame above someone in their preferred position. Securely attached to these is a mechanism that randomly opens one compartment over the subject. Keys are placed inside before play begins. Without true random simulators, kitchen timers set manually or a single microchip controlling all latches work well. For extra fun, compartments can hold items like urine, semen, marbles, chocolate syrup, india ink, ice water, and so on.

  2. One end of a rope is frozen into an ice block. The rope loops over a simple pulley connected to a weight equal in mass to the ice block. A key for release secures this moving weight safely. As the ice melts, gravity pulls the weight down. Care must be taken that the falling weight isn’t positioned directly overhead or is light enough to avoid injury if it drops suddenly.
