Arrow with Synthetic Fibers and Fire

I lit a fire in my pit yesterday and was using a broken arrow to stir it (the nock and flights had worn away from too much use). I began to notice that the fibers making up the shaft were pulling apart, as the glue holding them together started melting. This phenomenon began at the top two or three inches, but once I realized this could be perverted in its purpose, things changed. When about eight inches of adhesive had liquefied, I decided to give it a try.

This little experiment does several things: 1: If melted sufficiently far down, it can serve as a whip. 2: It works for tickling. 3: Perhaps most notably, the tip creeps forward and sheds fibers.
