Crafting Your Own Shapers and Forms

I’ve finally gone through the process of crafting my own hip shapers and breast forms, so I wanted to share how it goes here.

Background: The main inspiration for taking on this challenge was looking at the market for quality breast forms. I’ve purchased several pairs from different brands and noticed that even when you pay around $100 a pair, they are often just molded silicone or latex. Plus, by making them myself, I can achieve perfect custom sizing that contours better to my body and fills out in a way that might not appeal as much to the general public because it depends entirely on my specific physique.

The process: I’ll be showing more details in upcoming posts as I hit each step.

1. Positive mold replication. To get this done, I’m using #2 plasticine clay and hand-shaping it to copy the form I want to create.
2. Negative Mold creation. I’m constructing a vacuum former to produce a reusable plastic negative that captures the level of detail I modeled in step 1.
3. Form creation. Using the plastic negative, I’ll apply several layers of Latex (to set the color and texture) before filling the mold with silicone rubber to mimic the density and movement.

I hope everything goes smoothly! Currently, I’m molding the hip/butt shapers and am nearly finished replicating one side in clay. Keep an eye out for more updates as I document each step with details and pictures.
