Renting a PO Box at the Local Branch

This might seem a bit odd…but I’ve never actually rented a post office box at my local branch before. I’d like to know what I’m doing before heading out, since the place is nearly always packed. Also…can I rent it for just one month and then cancel? Or once I get it am I stuck with it or…I’m so confused.:shock:
