The context for this concept is that I want to experiment with long-term chastity, but the requirement for tiny, discreet locks makes them too simple to pick. After reading on, you’ll likely conclude I need more social interaction (and you’re probably correct:wink: )
It consists of two components. The first part is a compact safe containing something precious to you (perhaps just cash) alongside a dye charge that will ruin it (the mechanism of the dye charge is tricky; I’d prefer a small pyrotechnic unit, though obviously not everyone can use one!). If the safe is disturbed (for example by too much vibration or heat), the dye charge triggers. The safe only opens safely when using the second component:-
The Second part involves a custom electronic seal (similar to those used on shipping containers). This seal replaces the traditional lock; if removed prematurely, it can no longer disarm the safe. Here is how it works:- Choose a duration for the safe and set this in its programming. Attach the seal to the safe so they establish and save a random secret key. Once the seal is “locked,” it continuously monitors its integrity and tracks the elapsed time since closing. The timer stops as soon as the seal opens. To reopen the safe, reconnect the seal. However, if the seal opened too early or the secret key doesn’t match, the contents are ruined.
The seal naturally needs a loop where a standard lock shackle would go. To ensure it’s secure and tamper-proof, this could be either a fibre optic loop (with coded light pulses traveling through) or a resistive loop (cheaper and easier to fabricate but simpler to bypass). For the resistive type to work effectively, several similar-looking loops with different resistance values are created, mixed together, and one is chosen at random. When the seal first closes, it measures the resistance; if that value changes later on, the timer halts.
It may sound complex, but manufacturing it wouldn’t be difficult. I think I have my work cut out for me!:wink:
