Alright sports fans, here is a practical warning from experience: Don’t let this happen to YOU! On Tuesday afternoon I decided on the spur of the moment to try neo’s suggested “Key-less Ice” release method because it was supposed to be hot enough for me to test how quickly it would work. Since that was the case, I also combined it with a severe Strappado tie.

I built an IRM (Ice Release Mechanism) using a three-foot-long (305mm) pipe with an inside diameter of 2 &1/4” (57mm). One end was capped with a special cap made from a short-shanked eye bolt, topped with a flat washer and secured tightly by rubber crimped down with hex nuts on both the inner and outer sides. I filled the IRM about 80% full of water and rigged hard wire to support the eye bolt’s eye so it stayed just above the water line; that eye had an 8” (203mm) long shank. I placed the IRM in a friend’s deep freezer on Saturday night and moved it to my refrigerator freezer by Monday evening. As the ice expanded, it pushed the bolt’s eye up past the edge of the open pipe end.

I didn’t have much time to get ready properly, so I stripped naked and took just what was needed out into my backyard. Around midday, the only real risk of being spotted by involuntary onlookers were the guys working on the hospital roof across the field near where I stay. The yard is very small, with two trees against the back boundary creating a gateway to fields behind my place. Long ago, I had strung a stainless steel wire line high between those trees. I screwed a cap containing a 1 & 3/4” (45mm) hole onto the open bottom end of the IRM and attached its top end to the wire line using a screw link. Then I ran a 1/4”(6mm) rope through the lower eye.

I pulled down on the rope, letting my full weight determine where I needed to tie it, then created a square knot forming a loop through the eyelet. Pulling one side of the loop brought the knot tight against the eye while leaving the loose ends up and out of the way.

Climbing onto the third step of the short ladder, I secured the IRM rope with a larks head and slid my wrist tie coil through it. With my left wrist already inside, I guided my right arm through the coil in the opposite direction. Once that was done, I twisted my wrists so they pointed outward together. Then I slowly backed down the ladder; this pulled my wrists tightly together and upward. Balancing on my left tippy toe with my right foot hooked under the bottom step, heaved hard until it fell away irretrievably from me. My arms were drawn up nearly as high as the girl in the first photo curious_sb posted regarding strappedo, mostly because I was standing on my toes. The pain was too great to try standing flat-footed again; quite a dilemma.

The sun beat down hot upon me, and the trickle of melting ice water rained sparsely over my body which felt good. But I couldn’t rest my toes for more than a minute at a stretch before the ache in my arms and shoulders became unbearable. I twisted and swayed but could not find relief from the growing agony. After what I estimated was twenty minutes (though there was no way to be certain), I heard a loud crack, and the rope slackened enough that I stood flat-footed on the grass with only slightly less pain than when I had been on tip toe. Every few minutes I would rise back onto my toes for a minute’s break for my arms. The IRM emitted steady cracking and crunching sounds. I was enjoying a nice erection when I heard a sluck sound followed by my arms dropping completely down. However, as this happened, the remaining chunk of ice attached to the lower eye bolt shot out and knocked THE LIVING FUCK out of me.

I don’t know how long I lay there after the ice punched my clock, but when I finally recovered enough to check the timepiece, an hour, twenty-seven minutes, and some odd seconds had passed since starting the stopwatch.

Obviously use extreme caution with this method because it does not seem practical for overhead high-angle play. My upper back, which was the point of impact, remains very sore—not in a good way either. The IRM itself seems workable; it just needs some refinement in its application.
