“I’m quite fond of dilemmas and have come up with a few interesting ones. I’ve tried some elements of these but not the whole scenarios:-

  1. For the ladies, setup is nipple clamps attached to a weight via a pulley, also a backup timer (IMPORTANT) set to the longest time you think you can endure! This is in case the clamps pull off. A board fixed to the floor with small smooth pebbles glued to it (you have bare feet and ankles are hobbled so you can’t walk quickly). Now there are two switches that are activated by the weight one at ground level and one that will be activated once you’ve walked the length of the pebble board. The switches activate an electronic counter that will release you once you’ve walked the length of the board a randomly selected number of times. If you take too long between walks the counter gradually decreases to punish you. The dilemma is do you endure the clamp pain on its own for the timer duration, or do you endure the additional pain of the weight and the pebbles for an unknown duration (could release you early or could be as long as the backup timer anyway!)
  2. Tip toe dilemma. Setup is similar to the real story I recently posted, TENS unit set to an uncomfortable level if you don’t stand on tip toes. However a circuit randomly selects “rest periods” when you can put your feet down. Of course you don’t know when or for how long these rest periods will occur you just have to keep trying (you’ll certainly know when the rest period is over!) You get rewarded by a reduction in time if you either endure the stress position for a long period of time (i.e. skip a rest period) OR you endure the TENS for a long period of time. However quickly swapping between the two will either increase or not change the time before you are released!
  3. Similar to 2 however doesn’t require any fancy electronics. TENS arranged so that you get a (JUST bearable but not pleasant) shock if either foot touches the floor. The only way of getting both feet off the floor is to sit on a very uncomfortable seat e.g. a narrow metal tube sticking out of the wall. The TENS could be replaced with a pebble board as in the first scenario.
